What do Bible Christians say one must do to be saved?

It varies from denomination to denomination, but below are some typical examples.

1. What "Campus Crusade for Christ" says.
2. What "Countryside Bible Church" says.
3. What "Harmony Hills Baptist Church" says.
4. What "The Online Christian Newsletter" says.

CAMPUS CRUSADE FOR CHRIST

We must individually RECEIVE Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; then we can know and experience God's love and plan for our lives.

We Must Receive Christ
"As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name" (John 1:12)

We Receive Christ Through Faith
"By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast" (Ephesians 2:8,9).

When We Receive Christ, We Experience a New Birth
(Read
John 3:1-8.)

We Receive Christ by Personal Invitation
[Christ speaking] "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him" (Revelation 3:20).

Receiving Christ involves turning to God from self (repentance) and trusting Christ to come into our lives to forgive our sins and to make us what He wants us to be. Just to agree intellectually that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for our sins is not enough. Nor is it enough to have an emotional experience. We receive Jesus Christ by faith, as an act of the will.

The following explains how you can receive Christ:

You Can Receive Christ Right Now by Faith Through Prayer
(Prayer is talking to God)

God knows your heart and is not so concerned with your words as He is with the attitude of your heart. The following is a suggested prayer:

"Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be."

Does this prayer express the desire of your heart?

If it does, I invite you to pray this prayer right now, and Christ will come into your life, as He promised.

SALVATION

We believe that salvation is the gift of God in grace and is received by man only through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins (John 1:12; Ephesians 1:7; 2:8-9). We believe that when an unregenerate person exercises that faith in Christ and His death on the cross as payment for his sin, he passes immediately out of spiritual death into spiritual life, and from the old creation into the new; being justified, accepted before the Father according as Christ, His Son, is accepted, loved as Christ is loved, having his place and portion as linked to Him, and one with Him forever (John 5:24; 17:23; Acts 13:39; Romans 5:1; I Corinthians 3:21-23; Ephesians 1:3; Colossians 2:10; II Peter 3:18; I John 4:17; 5:11-12).

We also believe that the greatest degree of reformation, the highest attainment of morality, the most attractive culture, baptism or another ordinance, cannot help the sinner to take even one step toward heaven. Only by a new nature imparted from above, a new life implanted by the Holy Spirit through the Word, may one obtain salvation and thus become a child of God (Leviticus 17:11; Isaiah 64:6; Matthew 26:28; John 3:5, 18; Romans 5:6-9; II Corinthians 5:21; Galatians 3:13; 6:15; Ephesians 1:7; Philippians 3:4-9; Titus 3:5; James 1:18; I Peter 1:18-19,23).

Question: "What must I do to have Jesus Christ?"

YOU MUST BELIEVE AND RECEIVE!

You must believe with all your heart that Jesus is The Son of God, that He died for you and was raised from the dead the third day. You must receive Him by asking Him to come into your life, forgive your sins, and be your Savior and Lord.
Jesus said, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and live with him and he with Me." - Revelation 3:20
"But as many as received Him (Jesus), to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name." - John 1:12
"...if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." - Romans 10:9

HOW TO RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST!

  1. Humble yourself and admit to yourself and God that you are a sinner.
  2. Be willing to turn from your sins and turn your life to God.
  3. Believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay for your sins and that He rose from the dead to give you eternal life.
  4. By praying, ask Jesus Christ to come into your life, forgive your sins, save you, and take control by the Holy Spirit.

IF YOU SINCERELY MEAN IT, PRAY SOMETHING LIKE...

"Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I need your love and mercy. I believe that You died for my sins on the cross. I want to turn from my sins. Please come into my heart and life and forgive my sins. I turn control of my life over to you as my Savior and Lord. I ask this in Jesus' name. Amen."

DID YOU SINCERELY PRAY ? IF SO...

"Whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ shall be saved." - Romans 10:13
"He who has the Son (Jesus) has life; but he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know for certain that you have eternal life, and so that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God." - 1 John 5:12-13

How to Become a Christian

Congratulations on taking your first step towards asking Jesus into your life!!  The most important thing to know is that salvation can not be earned... it is a free gift from God!!  "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us..." (Titus 3:5) "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:" (Eph 2:8).

Did you notice those wonderful words in the Scriptures above? "Grace", "Mercy", "Gift", and "Faith".  It is by God's grace and mercy that you have the opportunity to be saved.  It is by your faith that you can accept this salvation.  Salvation is the gift of God.... will you make the choice to accept it today?  If you said "yes", please read the rest of this short letter very carefully!!

The first thing you must do is acknowledge you are a sinner, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23).  Everyone has fallen short of the glory of God, all are sinners before they accept Christ.  Every human is born into sin, and the end result of sin is (spiritual) death, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23).  As long as we live in our sin, our spirit is dead... but read that Scripture again... the good news is that Eternal Life lies in God's gift of salvation!!

"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.  Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?  Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water (physical birth) and of the Spirit (spiritual birth), he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." (John 3:3-5).  Jesus makes it very clear, one must be "born again" in order to be saved.  You have already been born physically, but you still must be born spiritually, or "Born Again".  By accepting God's Salvation, you will be spiritually born, or "Born Again".

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6).  There is only one way to salvation, and that one way is through Jesus.

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:9-10).  Are you willing to confess that Jesus is Lord?  Do you believe in your heart that Jesus was raised from the dead by God?  If you say yes to both, you can be saved!!  "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).

Are you ready to ask Jesus into your heart today?  If you are, please continue!!  What I am going to ask you to do is say a prayer that is similar to the one below.  It is meaningless to pray this if you do not mean it... you must believe in your heart!!  If you believe, then please continue...

"Jesus, I am inviting you into my heart.  I am a sinner in need of you as my saviour.  I confess that you are Lord, and I believe it in my heart. I believe that you were crucified for my sins, and I believe that God raised you from the dead.  I ask you now to become my Lord and My Savior.  Forgive me, and wash away my former sin.  I want to be saved, I want to go to heaven and have the eternal life that you paid for with your blood at Calvary.  Make me a new creature.  In Jesus name I pray, amen."

If you have prayed a prayer similar to that, and you believed it and meant it, CONGRATULATIONS!!  You have taken your first steps as a Christian!!  The rest of this page is my attempt to help you get started in your new life with Christ and develop a strong foundation for your Christian walk.
